Dharwad: A total of 37 individuals from Muttige village in Kalghatagi taluk have been hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, likely due to contaminated water consumption.
Five of the most severely affected patients have been transferred to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for advanced care, while the remaining patients are being treated at the local taluk hospital.
“Most of the hospitalized patients have shown signs of recovery. Initial findings indicate that contaminated water is the likely cause of the symptoms. We have sent water samples for testing,” stated Dr. Siddaraya Kappasad.
Channabasappa Jimmihala, a former gram panchayat member, shared, “Both my daughter Sahana and mother Girijamma have fallen ill with vomiting and diarrhea. I’ve had to admit them to the hospital. The village water tank hasn’t been cleaned, and the water problem is the reason people are falling ill.”
