Bantawala: The Bantawala Rural Police have arrested a man for consuming weeds who has been absconding for the past eight years without appearing before the court after he was released on bail from jail. The court remanded him to judicial custody.
The accused has been identified as Siddique, son of Moosabba, a resident of Kotekar Majalu in Mangaluru. In December 2015, Siddique was arrested by the Bantawala Rural Police while he was consuming weed in a public place and produced before the court, and later released on bail.
Siddique had been absconding for the past eight years without appearing in court.
On July 1, under the guidance of Inspectors Vivekananda and Sub-Inspectors Harish M. R. and Akshay Davagi, Sanjeev K. Bharathi, staff H. C. Ganesh Prasad, PC Yogesh D. L., and Vijay collected information and arrested him at Talapady on the Kerala border and produced before the court on July 2. The court remanded the accused, Siddique, to judicial custody.
