Action on quota for Panchamasali Lingayat post report by Commission: Bommai

Belagavi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday December 16 said that action would be taken on providing category 2A reservation for the Panchamasali community once Backward Classes Commission submits its report.

Speaking to mediapersons he said, “the issue would be examined in accordance with the Supreme Court verdict and Constitutional provisions. There has been discussion on bestowing category 2A Backward Classes reservation for the Panchamasali community with Kudalasangama Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru and also the legislators from the community.”

Further, he said, “the issue has been referred to the Backward Classes Commission, and a discussion in the Cabinet would be taken on getting the report from the Commission at the earliest.”
