Bagalkot: Finally, Vijayanand Kashappanavar, who was upset after his wife Veena failed to secure a ticket from the Congress party to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Bagalkot Lok Sabha constituency, has started campaigning for Samyukta Patil, to whom the party gave the ticket instead of Veena.
Addressing party workers, Kashappanavar said that he is a born Congressman and will remain in the party till his last breath. He pledged not to do any injustice to the party and swore on his mother that he would not betray Samyukta Patil, the party’s official candidate, and would work for her victory.
Kashappanavar admitted that he was a bit upset that his wife did not get the party ticket, but now he is committed to working for Samyukta and ensuring her victory.
Veena Kashappanavar, a former Zilla Panchayat member, was an aspirant for the Congress ticket to contest the election once again from the Bagalkot Lok Sabha seat. In the previous election, she was defeated against PC Gaddigoudar. This time, the party has fielded Minister Shivanand Patil’s daughter Samyukta from this segment.
