Bagalkot: Condemning the constant supply of water from River Krishna to Jindal Company, the farmers of Marol village protested in front of the Jindal Pump House, here on Saturday, November 24.
The farmers said that for 24 hours the water is being supplied from Kundalasangama Krishna river to Jindal company which is located at Hospet.
The issue has risen due to a drop in rainfall, which has created a drought-like situation. The farmers say that there is no proper drinking water facility as well as water for irrigation purpose.
The farmers have urged the government to stop the supply of water to any of the private companies, as the percentage of water storage in the backwaters of Narayanpura dam has dropped drastically.
The slogans of the protestors were, “We will lay down our lives but not water.”
