Belagavi: Allegations of discrimination in honorarium given to guest lecturers in universities echoed in the Upper House on Monday December 26.
During the Question Hour, Marithibbegowda of the JD (S) said that there was discrimination in the honorarium given to guest lecturers in the University of Mysore. Recently, the honorarium of guest lecturers of universities have been revised and accordingly, an honorarium of one month has also been given. It was later discontinued. How right is this?, he asked.
Responding to this, Higher Education Minister Dr. C. N. Ashwathnarayan, the financial committee of universities, has said that the revised honorarium is not possible as the financial position is not good. It is not possible for the time being at least, he said.
