Belagavi: Voter data leak case discussed in Council

Belagavi: Speaker Basavaraj Horatti said that the JD (S) on Wednesday December 21 moved an adjournment motion in the Legislative Council on the issue of leakage of voters’ data and that he would allow a discussion on Thursday December 22.

Suraj Revanna of the JD (S), who moved the adjournment motion, said the Chilume organisation was also involved in the revision of the voters’ list in the name of voter awareness. In addition to this, it has also collected Aadhaar number, educational qualifications and other information of the voters.

He sought a discussion on the matter.

Leader of the Opposition B. K. Hariprasad said, “Earlier, MLAs were poached. Now, voters’ data has been stolen. Worrying on this he said it is a serious matter.

Suraj Revanna said that he has raised the issue as he is worried about future. Therefore, on Thursday December 22, the rest of the issues should be set aside and a discussion should be initiated on the issue of voter data collection, he said.

Reacting to this, Leader of the House Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “It is not right for the Opposition members to make allegations. He said the Government was ready for a debate if the Speaker allowed it.
