Dharawad: “Kendra Lalita Kala Academy of the Government of India is opening its regional office in the southern part at Vidyakashi Dharawad to create a separate exhibition hall for the exhibition of various works of art by National and State-level artistes and an Advisory Committee of senior local artistes will be formed,” said MLA Aravind Chandrakanta Bellada.
He was speaking after holding a preliminary meeting with senior artistes, representatives of various literary, music and cultural organisations at the designated building of the Kendra Lalita Kala Academy Regional Office.
The Lalita Kala Academy requires the cooperation and advice of local artistes and art lovers for its full utilisation.
“In this regard, an Advisory Committee will be formed to seek the guidance and advice of the elders representing various arts,” he said.
Kendra Lalita Kala Academy has selected a suitable site for the construction of a regional office and it is planned to make it a tourist destination that is frequented by the public and interested people. Through this, the specialisation and achievements of Dharwad arts will be extended to the National level, he said.
Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mines and Coal Pralhad Joshi and Minister of State for Culture Arjunram Meghwal will lay the foundation stone for the regional office building on February 20. He will preside over the programme and the Legislative Council Chairman, Kannada and Culture Minister, District In-charge Minister, MLAs of the District Legislative Assembly, MLCs, various elected representatives, officials and artistes will participate.
