Dharwad: Congress candidate Vinod Asooti, filed his nomination for Dharwad Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday.
In the morning, he symbolically filed the nomination, and then submitted three additional sets of nominations. Before filing the nomination, Asooti garlanded the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the city and led a grand procession to file his nomination.
Minister Santosh Lad, MLAs Prasad Abbayya and NH Konaraddi, MLC Saleem Ahmed, Rajat Ullagaddimath, Anilkumar Patil, AM Hindasgeri, and others were present.
Vinod Asooti contesting against Union Minister Pralhad Joshi from BJP, Joshi filed his nomination on Monday. With Fakira Dingaleshwar Swamiji announcing his candidature as an independent candidate, the Dharwad Lok Sabha is likely to witness a triangular fight this time.
Will Dingaleshwar Swamiji be able to defeat both Congress and BJP candidate or will he be able to just divide votes of Lingayat community, on which he has influence and help the one of his rivals to secure victory only time will tell.
