Koppal: Karadi Sanganna, the BJP Lok Sabha MP from Koppal Lok Sabha constituency, is likely to join the Congress. The senior leader announced that he will be meeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Bengaluru tomorrow (Wednesday), and a decision on joining the grand old party is likely to be made there.

Karadi Sanganna, who represents the Koppal Lok Sabha and was seeking a third term on the BJP ticket, was denied the ticket by the party. But it was given to political greenhorn Dr. Basavaraj Kyavatoor. Sanganna’s supporters were upset following their leader’s denial of the ticket and ransacked the party office in Koppal just a few days ago.

Last week, Sanganna announced that he would work for the party candidate and honor the decision of the party’s high command by taking part in the campaign for Dr. Kyavatoor. It was visible that Sanganna was not wholeheartedly campaigning for the BJP.

The political landscape in the northern district of Karnataka shifted with the entry of former Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader Laxman Savadi. Both Savadi and Sanganna had an elaborate meeting over dinner on Monday night.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Sanganna said he would be meeting both the chief minister and the deputy chief minister in the state capital. After meeting with them, he would decide on joining the Congress party.

He also clarified that no BJP leaders, including Gali Janaradhana Reddy, are in touch with him and vowed to reveal the names of BJP leaders who neglected him. He confirmed that Savadi and Amaregowda Bayyapur have extended an invitation to join the Congress but refused to reveal his demands placed before the Congress party leadership to reporters.

Meanwhile, Congress Lok Sabha candidate Raghavedra Hitnal met with the disgruntled leader and had a discussion with him. Hitnal stated that the party would benefit if senior leaders like Sanganna Karadi joined the party and expressed confidence that he would join the party soon.
