Hubballi: Former minister Murugesh Nirani has said that he seek forgiveness from Fakira Dingaleshwar Swamiji of Shirahatti Bhavaikya Peetha. Nirani stated that either they or the BJP candidate from Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency, Pralhad Joshi, may have unknowingly made mistakes, which they are committed to rectifying.

Addressing reporters here on Friday at the party office, Nirani said the Swamiji’s stature is big, “Swamiji is bigger than us or Pralhad Joshi, and whatever mistakes may have been made will be rectified, and Swamiji should forgive us for those mistakes.”

He also stated that BJP state and central leaders are actively engaged in dialogue to resolve the issue with the Swamiji. Nirani acknowledged his position, saying, “I am not a big man to speak on Dingaleshwar Swamiji. Former CM Yediyurappa and other state BJP leaders are in communication with Swamiji. Whatever personal mistakes we may have made, Swamiji should forgive us.”

Dingaleshwar Swamiji is contesting as an independent candidate from the Dharwad Lok Sabha seat, with the aim to defeat union minister and BJP candidate Pralhad Joshi. The Swamiji has accused Joshi committed injustice to Lingayat community and of being responsible for unseating BS Yediyurappa from the chief minister’s post. Having garnered support from various mutts, the Swamiji took a decision to fight against Joshi.

Nirani further stated that he plans to meet Vachananand Swamiji of Harihara Panchamasali Peetha on April 14 to address any confusion or doubts the seer may have. Responding to recent allegations by the Swamiji regarding injustice to the Panchamasali community by the BJP, Nirani clarified that the party has not mistreated the community, will try to resolve any misunderstandings, the Swmaiji may have.

If Dingaleshwar Swamiji decides to continue as an independent candidate, then there are lots of possibilities that Lingayat votes could divide and that could adversely affect chances of Joshi’s winning this time.
