Dharwad: Hundreds of farmers, farm women and leaders of various organisations supporting farmers cause who took out Padayatra from Navalgund to Dharwad reached the destination on Friday noon, pressing for various demands including implementation of Mahadayi, Kalasa Banduri Nala Project here on Friday.
Farmers led by the leaders of Malaprabha, Mahadayi, Kalasa-Banduri Raitha Horata Vokkoota of Navalgund, traversed around 55 kms to reach Dharwad wherein a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi was submitted to the district administration amid slogans of farmers.
The farmers demands include early implementation of Mahadayi, Kalasa Banduri Nala Project, for which the state must continue legal fight, exerting pressure on the prime minister to intervene among three states to solve the issue, waiver of all kinds of loans of farmers, increase of crop insurance per acre to Rs. 25,000 in view of drought situation, issuance of new loans to farmers with zero percent interest, free distribution of water and grains, steps to prevent forcible recovery of loans availed by agri labourers and Self Help Groups, withdrawal of all cases on farmers among others.
