Dharwad: The mother of accused Fayaz, who brutally killed Neha Hiremath within the premises of BVB College in Hubballi on Thursday evening, claimed that her son and Neha were in love, contradicting Neha’s father’s statement that she was not in love and was a homely girl.
Speaking to reporters, Fayaz’s mother, Mumtaz, said they were in love and what his son did was wrong, and she demanded that he be punished severely as per the rule of the land. She claimed that Neha herself took Fayaz’s number when he became University Blue in a body-building competition, and she made the first move, alleged Mumtaz.
She also claimed that Fayaz informed her of this a few months ago, and she advised her son to concentrate on his studies. “He was brilliant in his studies, and we wanted him to become an IAS officer. But this incident happened. I beg forgiveness from the people of Karnataka and Neha Hiremath’s parents. Neha was like my daughter. I am also in deep pain for the loss of Neha,” she said.
