Hubballi: Former CM and JDS State President H D Kumaraswamy who has been making efforts to strengthen the party in North Karnataka region has launched a poll campaign of his party for the 2018 Assembly polls, after performing “Grivhpravesha” of his house in Hubballi on Friday.

Kumaraswamy performed the house warming ceremony in a rented house on Friday here at Mayakar Colony near Bhairidevarkoppa where he would be spending 10-12 days a month in view of strengthening the party.

Later, while addressing party workers HDK in his ambitious plan to make inroads into North Karnataka region with an eye over next assembly poll, sought people’s support to become next chief minister and solve majority of their problems.

HDK said that his heart is in North Karnataka region itself. He took exception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move who despite coming to Belagavi and addressing a public rally failed to mention the issue of Mahadayi dispute. People of this region supported BJP, but BJP MPs failed to get Mahadayi water for this region, he lamented.

The State Government has no money to waive off farmers’ loans but it has decided to spend Rs 2000 Crore for constructing a steel bridge in Bengaluru. A lot of money is being looted in the name of purchasing electricity at higher price, though it is available at lesser rate. All such scams would be disclosed if JDS comes to power, he said.

He urged the farmers to give him a chance to become the chief minister in 2018 and assured to waive off loans taken by farmers, weavers and fishermen within 24 hours.

“We want to win at least 40 Assembly seats from this region, and if inevitable, I will contest from this region itself,” he told media persons later.

Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy said that she would also stay in the house in Hubballi for a week in a month.

MLC Basavaraj Horatti, Navalgund MLA N H Konaraddi, former minister Alkod Hanumanthapa and others were present.
