Belgavi: “Kagwad police in Athani taluk converted a murder case into accident death”, alleged the activists of Karnataka Praja Vedike headed by advocate Surendra Ugare during a protest in the premises of DC’s office here on Thursday.
They submitted a memorandum to the DC and SP, stating that the body of Appasab Vasant Shinde (34) of Aralikatti village had found between Mangasuli- Koulgudd Road on April 21st, 2015 along with motorbike. Police registered it as case of accident death in hurry based on the complaint of the wife of deceased without doing any investigation.
Advocate Ugare alleged against the Athani CPI Subedar and then Chikkodi DySP (Now retired) R S Patil for registering it as an accident case, although prime-facie it looks murder.
As per their complaint, there was cell phone near dead body but police have hidden it, they alleged.
When asked additional SP Ravindra Gadadi, said the case has been re-opened an investigation is going on. “I personally made spot visit recently and gathering the details. The location of the cell phone has been traced now which was missing after the incident,” he added.
