Belagavi: BJP MLAs Abhay Patil and Anil Benake violated the model code of conduct at a polling station in Visvesvaraya Nagar in Belagavi during the election for the Legislative Council from the North West Teachers Constituency and North West Graduates Constituency on Monday June 13.

Patil greeted voters in line seeking support for BJP candidates Arun Shahapur and Hanumant Nirani from the Teachers and Graduates constituencies, respectively, while Benake entered the polling centre and used his cellphone inside the premises.

Benake claimed that Congress was illegitimately wooing voters, providing Rs. 10,000 to teachers in the constituency. According to him, the party has filed a complaint with election officials about the issue.
