Vijayapura: Siddeshwara Swamiji, known as the Jnanayogi of Jnana Yogashram Matt has refused to accept the nation’s highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri honourably.
Known as “Buddhiji”, Siddeshwara Swamiji said he had not accepted any civilian awards in his lifetime citing his rejection of the honorary doctorate award of Karnatak University in Dharwad on an earlier occasion.
“I regard the nation’s highest civilian award Padma Shri, given to citizens in recognition of their contribution by the union government with great respect,” said Buddhiji.
“My tryst with life goes around empowering people spiritually to ensure they attain happiness in their lives, being a simple man”, Buddhiji is reported to have said while refusing the award.
Buddhiji requested all not to give a political tinge to his decision, wishing to stay clear of it.
