Vijayapura: The Muddebihala police seized 36.820 kgs of raw ganja worth an estimated of Rs 1.80 lakh, which was grown illegally among the crops in the field of Basavaraja Malleshappa Biradara in the Malagaladinni Village.
Acting on a tip-off about the cultivation of ganja plant, Muddebihal CP Mallikarjun A. Tulasigeri, PSI Arifa Mushapuri and police personnel raided the field and collected ganja saplings and took the accused into custody.
Police personnel Govinda Gennura, Veeresh Halagangadharamutt, Mallanagouda Bolareddy, Chidanand Surugihalli, Srikanth Biradar, Narasimha Chowdary, Shivaraja Nagareddy, Manjunath Bulla, Malappa Nalatavada and Ravi Lamani were present.
Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department Umesh Lamani, who is a gazetted officer, and Nagarabetta Gram Panchayat staff recorded the witness of the seized ganja plants.
