Belagavi: Preparations for the upcoming winter session at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum, scheduled for December, are well underway. Speaker UT Khader announced that the specific session date would be disclosed shortly and emphasized that this session would set an example.
Khader, along with Vidhan Parishad Chairman Basavaraja Horatti, conducted an inspection and held discussions with officials at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha in connection with the legislative winter session. They confirmed the session’s December date and urged officials to make comprehensive preparations.
To ensure a successful session, the Collector was instructed to establish ten committees responsible for various preparations. Facilities for Assembly and Parishad members were also prioritized.
Horatti mentioned that the session would dedicate more time to discussing critical issues in North Karnataka. He acknowledged concerns that the Belgaum session was often seen as a platform for protests and stated that efforts were made to address the grievances of farmers, workers, and organization members before the session to ensure its smooth operation.
Khader expressed satisfaction with the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha’s role in strengthening Kannada pride and diminishing demands for Belgaum’s merger with Maharashtra. He also discussed addressing a proposal for the Governor’s joint session address.
Furthermore, Khader mentioned the need to construct an MLA House in Belgaum, expressing optimism that the Chief Minister would consider this request. He also called for state-level offices to operate more actively in North Karnataka, highlighting that they seem to prioritize Bangalore over other regions.
