A woman from Belagavi, Karnataka, has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 40-year-old husband, Srimantha Itnali, before dismembering his body, police confirmed on Thursday. The incident took place in December, and the body was discovered on December 10 in Umarani village, Chikkodi taluk.

According to police, Srimantha, a known alcoholic, had been abusive toward his wife, frequently demanding money and even pressuring her to sell land she owned to buy him a new motorcycle. On December 8, after a heated argument regarding the land, the wife, identified as Savithri, reportedly strangled her husband while he was asleep. Once unconscious, she allegedly used a stone to smash his face.

In an attempt to dispose of the body, she chopped it into two pieces and carried them away in barrels. The police initially did not suspect Savithri but later brought her in for questioning, where she confessed to the crime. Authorities also revealed that she disposed of the murder weapon, a boulder, in a nearby well.

The Belagavi police are continuing their investigation. Savithri has been taken into custody and faces charges for the murder of her husband.
