Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has earmarked the first two doors of the first bogie for women. However, this system is not being followed properly. The men, who come along with women, too use the doors.
For the time being, ‘Namma Metro’ does not have a separate bogie for women, however, the corporation earmarked the first two doors for women, so that it would make them comfortable to get on and off during peak hours. Notice boards have been installed near the platform in the Metro Stations regarding this.
However, security persons remind this rule to men only during the peak hours. They stop male passengers from getting on the train through first two doors. During other times they don’t bother much about it. “This should not be restricted to peak hours. The system must be followed round the clock,” said a woman, a daily passenger of the metro.
“We suggest the male passengers follow the rules. But, there are no clear directions for us regarding the action to be taken if they flout this rule,” said a staff on conditions of anonymity.
