12 senior IPS officers to retire this year from the state police force

Bengaluru: For the first time in recent years, the state government is going to witness a huge shortage of senior IPS officers with as many as 20 officers retiring from service this year. 

The state government is likely to ask the officers on central deputation to return to the state to fill this vacuum.

According to the home department data, 4 IPS officers are retiring on January 31, 2020. It includes DG-IGP Neelamani R Raju, MN Reddy, Raghavendra H Auradkar, and P Rajendra Prasad.

Two officers i.e. MN Nagaraj and Manjunath Annigeri are retiring on May 31. Two officers i.e. NS Megharik and TR Suresh are retiring on July 31. S Parashivamurthy is retiring on September 30. Two officers i.e. Ashit Mohan Prasad and T Suneel Kumar are retiring on October 31. RP Sharma is retiring on December 31, 2020.

“The state government recently promoted three officers to IG rank to fill the vacancies. The state government is likely to send three names to the UPSC soon to select a successor for Neelamani R Raju,” explained sources.
