Bengaluru: The ‘shoot mercilessly’ comment by Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy seems to be causing more trouble to him. In a latest development, a complaint has been filed with the State Human Rights Commission in Karnataka against the CM for asking the police to shoot down the murderers of a JDS leader, who was hacked to death in broad daylight at Maddur recently.

The complaint filed by activist T Narasimha Murthy on behalf of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Karnataka said the statement amounts to disrespect of the judiciary and was a “scary development”.

“Such act is illegal, will dilute the spirit of the constitution…. CM directing the police to shootout (sic) will mislead and misguide the police. It amounts to misuse of law,” Murthy’s complaint said

However, the CM has refused to apologise and has reiterated that it was only an emotional reaction.

The CM’s telephonic conversation has gone viral and in the audio is heard saying that hacked JDS leader Prakash was a good man and that the murder has come as a shock. He further tells the top cop that there is no problem if the murderers are shot dead mercilessly.
