Bengaluru: The indefinite strike by farm science students against allowing private agriculture universities was intensified on Monday, June 25, as the degree students of all universities boycotted the exams. With this, the universities have decided to call an academic council meeting to discuss further steps.
The indefinite strike being carried out from past two weeks by the degree students of agricultural universities of Bengaluru, Hassan, Chinthamani and Mandya, demanding the state government to bring amendments to the law to stop private agriculture colleges has been intensified. The universities had decided to not mark attendance for others if one of them turns up for the examination.
As nobody was present for the examination, the universities have decided to call an emergency meeting of the academic council to discuss further steps. Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) Registrar Dr. A B Patil said, “We could not conduct exams on Monday as nobody was present. After the Academic Council meeting, we have to decide on future steps.”
Now, it is impossible to conduct examinations till the agriculture university students call off the strike. But, students have made it clear that there is no question of calling off the strike without justice.
