Bengaluru city police will now crack down on parents riding two-wheelers with children under four without approved safety harnesses, citing violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic), K Ravi Shankar, emphasized that, following Supreme Court directives, riders must use ISI-certified helmets and ensure that young children are strapped with proper harnesses for their safety.

He also reiterated that seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers, including those in the back seat of cars.

In a tech-forward move, instead of traditional road inspections, AI-enabled surveillance cameras will now be deployed across the city to identify and penalize traffic violations more efficiently.
