Bengaluru: It seems like bad days are ahead for the seasoned politicians of the Congress party who are yet to adopt the modern political strategies. In a shocking development, within minutes after the Congress registered a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections in the state, a total of 19 office-bearers of the party were kept under suspension for remaining inactive.
The suspended leaders include Mithun Rai (Dakshina Kannada youth Congress president), Raghuveera Gowda (Bengaluru city youth Congress president), Manthara Gowda (Hassan youth Congress president), Nagaraja (Ballari- Rural), M Haneef (Kodagu), Anil Kumar (Ramanagara) and others.
All Indian Youth Congress general secretary (membership), Ravindra Dass confirmed the developments. “A total of 19 office-bearers have been suspended from the state youth Congress. Among them, 10 are the district youth Congress presidents,” he said.
If sources in the party are to be believed, all are suspended after a discussion with KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao. “This is a temporary measure to ensure that these leaders work hard, stay active and are available for the cause of the party round-the-clock,” said a leader.
“All these 19 office-bearers were issued a show-cause notice 15 days back, but they didn’t reply. AICC president Rahul Gandhi wants changes in the party structure to ensure that the youth wing works more aggressively, but these leaders failed to meet the expectations,” he added.
“Suspension order will be revoked once they reply to the show-cause notice,” added sources.
