Bengaluru: The Congress leaders’ efforts to pacify Hospet (Vijayanagar) MLA Anand Singh and his family members to withdraw the criminal case lodged against Kampli MLA JN Ganesh have failed.
With the Congress leaders keeping forth the demands, Singh’s wife Lakshmi has made it clear to the Congress leaders that Singh’s safety is of utmost importance to her. “Party and politics come next, ” she said.
It can be recalled that on January 19 night Kampli MLA JN Ganesh had allegedly attacked Anand Singh inside the Eagleton resort in Bidadi. Singh was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru where he was treated for eye, face and head injuries.
According to the sources, on Thursday evening a group of senior Congress leaders met Lakshmi Singh, wife of Anand Singh at her Bengaluru residence seeking her permission for a compromise. But Mrs Singh rejected the proposal.
She informed the Congress leaders that she is not in a position to pardon the accused in the incident. “For our family honour is important. So there is no question of withdrawing the case,” she made clear to the Congress leader.
Since the incident, JN Ganesh is absconding.
