Bengaluru: Speaker Vishweshara Hegade Kageri banned the entry of media into the state Legislators’ Home, near Vidhana Soudha, citing ‘invasion of privacy’.
This decision has been taken as per the request made by a few MLAs who wanted privacy in the legislators house.
A few MLAs had requested the speaker to ban the media from legislator’s house citing frequent media rounds in the legislators house who often disturbs them.
However, if an MLA offers to give n interview, arrangements should be made outside the gates of the house, said the order, which also stated that the time an MLA spends in the Lesgilators’ Home after his work hours is ‘private in nature’.
It can be recalled that speaker has already banned the TV cameras inside the assembly based on a similar request made by the MLAs.
This decision is expected to lead to another war of words between media fraternity and the speaker’s office.
