In a startling case within the city’s tech corridor, a homemaker allegedly stabbed her husband as he slept, angered by not receiving a wedding anniversary gift. The victim, a 37-year-old private firm employee named Kiran (name changed), suffered the attack by his 35-year-old wife, Sandhya (name changed). The incident occurred at 1:30 am on February 27, leading to the registration of an attempted murder case at the Bellandur police station.
Kiran reported to the police that Sandhya used a kitchen knife to stab him on the hand while he slept. Despite the shock, he managed to fend her off, preventing further injuries. With the assistance of neighbors, Kiran sought medical attention at a private hospital to address his hand injury. Doctors, recognizing the severity of the situation, forwarded a medico-legal case report to the police.
A senior officer revealed that the case against Sandhya was officially filed on March 1, and she has since been questioned. Given the familial nature of the incident, authorities have allowed the couple time to discuss and potentially resolve the issue. During the investigation, it was revealed that Kiran was unable to purchase a gift for Sandhya on the eve of their anniversary due to his grandfather’s recent death. Disturbed by this, Sandhya expressed her discontent as it was the first time Kiran had failed to give her a gift. Kiran, in his statement, indicated that his wife was grappling with personal issues, and he urged her to undergo counseling for support and resolution.
