Bengaluru: The BJP has decided to give a ticket to Avinash Jadhav, son of Dr Umesh Jadhav who recently quit the Congress party, to contest in the Chincholi Assembly by-elections.
The BJP had earlier decided to give the ticket to Ramachandra Jadhav, brother of Umesh Jadhav, to contest from the Chincholi Assembly constituency, but gave the ticket to Avinash following pressure from Umesh.
It can be recalled that Umesh Jadhav was elected MLA from the Chincholi Assembly constituency in the 2018 Assembly elections on the Congress ticket. He, however, recently quit the party to join the BJP to contest as their candidate from the Kalaburugi Lok Sabha constituency against Congress veteran leader Mallikharjun Kharge.
Meanwhile, another BJP ticket aspirant from the constituency, Sunil Valyapure is expected to quit the party as he was denied the ticket. He had contested as the party’s candidate in the 2018 Assembly elections in Chincholi and lost to Umesh Jadhav.
