Bengaluru: The district of Shimoga recently saw a case where an innocent shopkeeper became a victim when he saw a bag explode outside his store in the middle of a peaceful day.
The situation took place at around 12.20 on Sunday at a handloom shop near the Shiralakoppa bus stand at Shikaripura.
It all began when a couple approached him on the pretext of buying bed sheets, which they did, for Rs. 800, winning the shopkeeper’s trust.
The couple then returned with two bags, asking the shopkeeper for permission to place it outside his store for just a while.
The shopkeeper agreed, and it was only a matter of time before one of the bags exploded, leaving him injured. Witnesses nearby rushed to help, while some of them fled the spot, for obvious reasons.
While the situation sure has created enough panic, the main victim of the case is their poor shopkeeper Anthony D’souza, who sadly seemed to have been paying the price for having done the couple a favor.
The shopkeeper is now undergoing treatment at a government hospital at Shiralakoppa. While he stated that he was unaware of what the contents of the bag were, the police later identified them as explosives that hunters normally use to catch wild boars.
The police are now in the process of tracking down the couple, Umesh and Roopa and reassures that the people of the situation are now being in control with no cause for alarm.
