There is a lot going on around the recent extension of the Bangalore to Kannur trains going all the way up to Kozhikode, and here is a recent one with the Dakshina Kannada MP Nalini Kumar Kateel making his plea to the railway minister against the extension of these trains.
His claim is that the extension will clearly blow the residents of Mangalore, who highly patronize the 16511/12 KSR Bangalore City Kannur Express trains.
It is uncomfortable enough that these trains, which were first to go from Bangalore to Mangalore, introduced Kannur as its destination. And now comes Kozhikode, which is only going to bring in more passengers on the train.
Seeing this, it is only normal that the public in Mangalore come forward to extend their opposition for a train that has till now been a convenient mode for them to travel overnight from their hometown to the city of Bengaluru and vice versa.
Mangaloreans working in Bangalore will now have to think twice before booking their holidays, all thanks to lack of seats which will surely take place. It is for this reason that the public, on behalf of the minister, raised their opposition against the decision to extend the impractical generosity of these trains.
If it is of any help, the public has also taken the step to alert the authorities on the fact that residents of Kozhikode already have a train traveling to Bangalore, on which they can go
While the public has made their situation clear, the decision now lies with the railway board, with little else that they can do, should they still go in favor of the extension of these trains.
