Bengaluru: Assault reported after college event

A first-year BBA LLB student at a reputed college in the city was allegedly assaulted and threatened by two men following a college freshers’ programme on September 10. The incident has raised concerns among students and parents over safety around campus events.

Incident near Yelahanka

According to the police, the complainant, Sesu Srujan, was driving home with friends after attending the freshers’ celebration. While he was dropping off two female friends, two men approached his car and asked one of the girls to step out of the vehicle to talk.

When she refused, the men allegedly turned their attention to Srujan. Despite his refusal to exit the vehicle, the suspects, identified as Prajwal and Akshay, reportedly dragged him out.


Attack and threats

Police said that the attackers hit Srujan on his face, forehead and eyes using their hands, a kada (metal bangle worn by men) and a ring. The assault left him bleeding. The duo also allegedly attempted to strike him with a stone before issuing death threats and fleeing the spot.

Srujan sustained visible injuries and sought treatment at a private hospital. Following this, he filed a formal complaint at the Yelahanka police station.

Police action underway

The case has been registered and an investigation is in progress. The authorities are examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to trace the suspects and ascertain the motive behind the assault.
