BBMP to impose Rs 1,000 fine for violating mask rules

Bengaluru: The BBMP has made wearing masks compulsory within its limits and has issued an order in this regard on Thursday.

The violators will be slammed a penalty of Rs.1,000 for first offence, while it will be hiked to Rs 2,000 for repeating the offence.

As per the order, from March 1, wearing masks has been made compulsory in all the public places.

The marshals deputed to keep an eye on the garbage throwing in the public places have been empowered to collect the fine amount too.

It can be recalled that in many cities including Tumakuru, Shivamogga, Mysuru, the local corporations already collecting Rs.500 for not wearing masks in the public places and spitting on the road.
