Bengaluru: Ahead of Assembly elections in the State, the Lokayukta police conducted raids in various parts of the State.
The raids were conducted at seven places, including Yelahanka and Mahalakshmi Layout, belonging to K. I. Gangadharaiah, Assistant Director of Yelahanka zone of BBMP Town Planning Department in Yelahanka. Silver, gold, sarees, and property papers and foreign currencies were found in Gangadharaiah’s house.
It is said that the assets worth more than Rs. 2 Crore have been found and an official information is yet to be obtained. Lokayukta officials are currently collecting information about the money.
In all, 12 houses including flats in Yelahanka, J. C. Nagara, Hebtala and Rs. 1.5 Crore in Nelamangala. 5 acres of land worth Rs. 3.65 Crore in Malleswaram, a plot worth Rs 1 Crore, diamonds and gold ornaments worth Rs 1 Crore and Rs. 1.4 Crore in cash was found.
Gangadharaiah was also appointed for election duty and a sticker of Byatarayanapura assembly constituency was also found on his car. In this context, the cash found at Gangadharaiah’s house has given rise to many suspicions.
