Bengaluru: The charred body of 13-year-old Nishchith A, a Class 8 student from Christ School, was tragically discovered in a remote area near Kaggalipura Road, a day after he was reported missing.

Nishchith had left his home on Arekere 80 Feet Road around 5 pm on Wednesday to attend tuition but never returned. His father, JC Achit, an assistant professor at a private college, filed a missing and kidnapping complaint after the boy’s bicycle was found abandoned near Arekere Family Park and the family received a ransom call demanding ₹5 lakh from an unidentified number.

Police from Hulimavu station registered a case and launched a manhunt. The following day, during search operations, the boy’s burnt remains were found, confirming the worst fears of the family.

That night, police traced two suspects—Gurumurthy and Gopal Krishna—to Kaggalipura Road. During the attempted arrest, the accused allegedly attacked the officers, prompting a shootout. Both were injured; Gurumurthy was shot in both legs, while Gopal Krishna sustained a leg injury.

Investigations revealed that Gurumurthy, a former driver at the victim’s house, was familiar with the boy and is believed to have orchestrated the crime. His knowledge of the family’s routine likely enabled the abduction.

Police are probing deeper into the motive and checking for possible involvement of additional individuals in the horrific crime.
