Bengaluru police have arrested Panchakshari Swami, a notorious burglar who used stolen wealth to buy a ₹3 crore house for his girlfriend. Operating across multiple states, Swami was known for targeting locked homes with precision. While his family resided in Maharashtra, his girlfriend lived in Kolkata, leading him to maintain a secret double life.
Swami’s criminal journey began in his teenage years. Despite his father working for Indian Railways and his mother taking over after his father’s demise, he chose burglary over a regular career. By 2009, he had perfected breaking into homes, accumulating crores through theft. In 2016, he gifted his girlfriend a luxurious house and even bought her a ₹22 lakh aquarium for her birthday.
Despite his riches, Swami lived in a modest 400 sq ft house under his mother’s name, which was eventually auctioned due to loan default. A karate black belt holder, he was first arrested in Gujarat in 2016 and spent six years in Sabarmati Jail. After his release in 2024, he resumed burglaries in Bengaluru, having previously been arrested in Maharashtra.
His crime spree ended on January 9, 2024, when Madiwala Police arrested him post-burglary. Known for changing clothes on the street post-theft to evade suspicion, he was linked to over 180 cases. Police recovered gold ornaments and a fire gun used to melt stolen gold.
