Bengaluru: The State Congress President D. K. Shivakumar filed a petition on Monday September 26 challenging a FIR against him in a case involving disproportionate assets. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought more time from the High Court of Karnataka to file its objections.

The court adjourned the hearing till after the Dasara holiday.

The case began with Shivakumar’s income tax raid in 2017. The issue was thereafter brought up by the CBI, which requested permission from the Karnataka Government to look into Shivakumar based on information provided by the I – T Department to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The CBI received approval from the State government on September 25, 2019. The CBI filed the FIR on October 3, 2020, following a preliminary investigation. In opposition to this FIR, Shivakumar has approached the court.
