Bengaluru: Sleuths from the Central Crime Branch detained eight persons, including two foreign nationals, and seized drugs worth Rs. 6.31 Crore in three different raids. Police informed that the accused planned to sell the drugs at New Year parties.
Police claimed that they had kept an eye on drug dealers for more than a month since they expected that drugs will be distributed at New Year parties. Six persons, including residents of Bengaluru and Hyderabad, were arrested within the limits of the Kothanur Police Station.
According to sources, they had procured drugs from Nigerian nationals residing in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh. The accused had rented a home in Kothanur to keep the drugs they had acquired and sell them for huge sums during the New Year parties.
In a separate raid, police seized 7.1 kg of ganja, 7.3 kg of MDMA, 250 ecstasy pills, 4 kg of hashish oil, 440 gm of charas, and 2.3 kg of MDMA, which is estimated to be worth Rs. 6 Crore. The police arrested an Ivory Coast national during another raid in Electronics City and seized 250g of MDMA worth Rs. 25 lakh. A citizen of Costa Rica was also arrested in Banaswadi and cocaine and ecstasy pills worth Rs 6 lakh were seized, informed the police.
