Bengaluru: The State High Court has granted an interim stay to two accused in the case of throwing eggs at the car of Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his visit to Kodagu.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by N. D. Sampath Kumar and B. M. Santosh. The order was passed by a vacation special single-judge bench headed by Justice S. Rachaiah on Thursday December 22.
The counsel for the petitioner argued that the arrests were made without any evidence of the role of the accused in the incident. This is an illegal move. Therefore, the trial in the case should be stayed, he stressed.
After hearing the arguments, the bench issued notices to the respondents and stayed the proceedings in the case saying that prima facie there appears to be substance in the contention of the petitioners.
