Bengaluru: Fake correspondence education institute racked busted

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police has busted a huge racket of opening correspondence educational institutions without obtaining any recognition from the Government and distributing fake marksheets through study centres in the State mentioning that they are equivalent to SSLC and PUC.

The main accused in the racket, Prabhuraj B. Horapety (36), a native of Hubballi, Mylari Patil (46), and a resident of Jaraganahalli in Bengaluru, and Mohammed Taiheeb Ahmed (31), a resident of Arakere. They have been arrested.

The Karnataka Institute of Open Schooling (KIOS) named 70 marksheets, registration number and other information of the student, 10th and 12th standard markscard in which it as mentioned as the Government of Karnataka, 700 blank marksheets, 5,500 answer copies, ans 25 admission registrars for admission of students have been seized.

Meanwhile, the CCB police said that a xerox machine used to make fake marksheets and four laptops have been seized. One of the accused, Prabhuraj, registered with the sub-registrar’s office and set up the Karnataka Institution of Open Schooling (KIOS). However, it has not been recognised by a public educational institution. Mylari Patil has also set up the YET Group of Education Institutions. Investigations revealed that the third accused, Mohammed Taiheed Ahmed, was in touch with the managements of different degree colleges and schools.
