Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner C. H. Pratap Reddy has released guidelines on safety precautions to ensure peaceful New Year celebration.

He provided directions for all Deputy Police Commissioners and police stations in a circular. In addition to taking harsh action, he urged police to take action but behave courteously with the public when they are in an inebriated state.

Reddy instructed the police to take strict action against eve-teasers and mischief-mongers and to detain them if they see any such incidents.

He also instructed the police to take strict action against eve-teasers and mischief-mongers and to detain them if they see any such incidents. Install CCTV cameras, increase patrolling in high-traffic locations including Church Street, Brigade Road, and MG Road, and make sure streets are well-lit.

Police officers should also be in contact with Bescom officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, especially in places where a large number of people gather for celebrations.

Reddy ordered to set up checkpoints (barricades), check vehicles at random, and make sure that no vehicles are parked in no parking areas within the CBD. He also requested that all flyovers be closed on December 31. Except for intelligence staff, all men should be fully uniformed and armed while performing security duties.

Police officers deployed for duty at a certain location should remain there, keep an eye out for antisocial people, and monitor the movement of those opposed to the celebrations.
