Mangaluru: A man died and another was seriously injured in a collision between a bus and a bike near Koyyur Cross at Layila village on the evening of Tuesday December 20.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay (25) Navoor Malebavu in Bantwala Taluk. The injured person, identified as Shailesh (25), a resident of Bambila village in Kadabettu in the Bantwal taluk is receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to sources, the accident happened when they duo were riding on bike towards their home and a bus knocked their bike. Vijay died on spot owing to the impact of the accident. The motorcycle was completely destroyed.
Police rushed to the scene and cleared traffic with the help of locals. A case has been filed at the Belthangady Traffic Police Station, and the bus that was involved in the collision has been impounded.
Vijay was employed at a private firm in Ujire and he is survived by his mother and younger sister.
