A tragic incident has shaken the city after a young girl, reported missing from the Vittasandra area, was found dead in a secluded eucalyptus grove on the outskirts of Bengaluru within the jurisdiction of the Electronic City police station.
The child, whose family had migrated from Assam and was living in a temporary shelter, had gone missing on Thursday evening while playing outside. After an unsuccessful search through the night, her family filed a missing complaint the following day.
Later that night, police discovered her body in an isolated area. Preliminary investigations suggest that the child may have been abducted, strangled, and her body dumped at the location.
Probe Underway, Multiple Angles Being Examined
Officials have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault. Authorities stated that the exact cause and sequence of events will be confirmed only after forensic and post-mortem examinations are completed.
Investigators suspect that the accused may be someone known to the family, pointing towards a possible insider’s role. It is believed the child could have been lured with sweets or gifts before the crime was committed.
In a disturbing development, the victim’s face was reportedly disfigured, possibly in an attempt to conceal her identity.
Case Registered Under POCSO Act
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law, including the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Special police teams have been formed to collect evidence and track down those responsible.
Police officials confirmed that all possible angles, including personal enmity, are being investigated while they await further clarity from forensic reports.
Safety Concerns Rise
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of children, particularly those from vulnerable and migrant communities living in urban areas.
As the investigation continues, authorities have assured that swift action will be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
