Bengaluru: Marathons and relay runs are no more a fancy for city dwellers now. Most of the cities host such events on regular basis across the country. Although, this one falls in the same category, it differs.
Billed as first of its kind in the country, a twincity relay run has been organised between the IT capital Bengaluru and heritage city of Mysore on June 10 and 11.
The initiative has been taken by Inventors India Research Foundation and the total stretch is about 120 kms with variable lap length across the contours of the highway between two cities.
The winning team will be awarded with Rs 3 lakh cash and Rs 2 lakh worth vouchers and the runners-up will get Rs 2 lakh worth goodies. In 5,000 meters lap time category, individuals will get Rs 25,000 cash and goodies worth Rs 50,000.
The relay run will begin at 7 am on June 10 with a decathlon on Mysore Road and conclude on June 11 at 9 am in Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Mysore. The registration for the participation has started and last date stands June 5.
According to Inventors India Research Foundation’s press release, the event is being organised to raise funds to set up rapid prototyping infrastructure to support young innovators and researchers through development of new technologies.
According to the organisers, all sorts of safety measures including ambulances and others have been taken up for the participants for which police and other departments concerned were consulted and cooperation was ensured by them.
