FIR filed against police inspector for assaulting journalists

Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered against Hulimavu police inspector on charges of assaulting journalists during the Provident Fund agitation recently, said Home Minister G Parmeshwar on Monday.

Speaking to media, after a high profile meeting with police personnel at the Police Commissioner’s office he said that an FIR against VijayKumar has been filed and further investigation is on.

A case of assault on journalists was registered against Vijay Kumar at MICO layout police station.

So far cases have been registered against 248 people related to the PF agitation, but no case has been registered against women, he clarified.

The Home department is working at its best to curb land mafia and others, he said.

There are complaints that some of the police officers are also involved in land mafia. The department has given strict directions to higher officials to tackle such officers and people supporting them and book them under suitable law, he added.

In between, he also claimed that the number of rowdy sheeters has come down and their activities are by and large reduced.

Meanwhile, he said that the police is vigilant over unlicensed spas and massage centers, of which some of them are involved in illegal activities. These spas will be shut down soon, Parmeshwar said.
