Bengaluru: The Chamarajpet Citizens’ Forum, a group that wanted to host the festival there on Tuesday, said they will abide by the order but will fight the ownership issue in court in light of the Supreme Court’s decision to deny permission for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Eidgah ground and order status quo.

They said that this time they will not install the Ganesha idol anywhere else as their goal was to install it on the ground and that they would wait for that day to arrive.

Speaking to mediapersons Ramegowda of Chamarajpet Nagarikara Okkoota Vedike said, “Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, installing a Ganesh idol at Eidgah Ground is out of the question, and the government would allow it either. The Supreme Court’s order must be followed by everyone.”

People were naturally disappointed because they had expected celebrating the festival at the ground this time, he said.

We will not stop, we will fight legally. Although the court has asked to maintain status quo, it has not made a decision regarding who owns the land. We will appoint an advocate and fight the case even if the government decides not to interfere in the issue to prove that the Waqf board does not possess the land, and we intend to install a Ganesha idol there in the future, he added.
