Bengaluru: ‘Pensioners participation in economic development invaluable’

Bengaluru: Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot emphasised the invaluable contribution of retired bank employees in the country’s economic development at the 6th Triennial Conference of Retired Bankers organised by the All India Bank Retired Union here.

He praised the banking sector’s significant strides in promoting economic development and highlighted the crucial role played by bank retirees in this regard. “As India emerges as a global economic power, the public sector banks’ contribution to supporting the Indian economy is worth acknowledging,” he said.

Governor TC Gehlot appreciated the retired bank employees’ service to the country during their tenure and their continued involvement in social welfare work after retirement. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor lauded the retired bank employees’ humanity in providing continuous financial services to the countrymen. He urged them to continue their social service even after retirement, recognising the importance of their participation in the country’s economic development.

Governor said, “Today, India is rapidly emerging as a world superpower under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, thanks to the country’s efforts towards self-reliance in all sectors.” The Government has also implemented various concession schemes to empower senior citizens. I encourage all retirees to take advantage of these programmes,” he added.

In the programme, Presidents of All India Bank Retirees Association S. M. Deshpande, K. K. Srinivasan, General Secretary S. C. Jain, State General Secretary K. V. Vishwanath Naik, Secretary Mallikarjuna, and other dignitaries were present.
