Bengaluru Police dismantle major drug network, seize ₹24 crore worth MDMA
Bengaluru Police’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) made a record-breaking drug seizure, arresting a foreign national allegedly running a drug racket. The operation uncovered 12 kg of MDMA crystals valued at ₹24 crore, marking the largest narcotics haul in Karnataka’s history.
Based on a tip-off, the Narcotics Control Wing raided the TC Palya area in KR Puram on December 13. The suspect, a foreign woman who had been residing on an expired business visa, reportedly sold illegal drugs alongside food and grocery items catering to African nationals.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda described the bust as uncovering an “international drug network.” Investigators revealed that the MDMA was smuggled from Mumbai concealed in soap packets and dry fish boxes. These drugs were allegedly sold to software engineers, expatriates, and other buyers at premium prices.
The raid also led to the recovery of 70 SIM cards and several mobile phones. Further inquiries revealed a Mumbai-based woman supplied the seized drugs to the suspect. Authorities are working to trace her and investigate the role of another foreign national believed to be involved in the racket.
The suspect admitted to using illegal drug sales to earn profits and faces charges under the NDPS Act and Foreigners Act. Bengaluru Police continue to intensify their efforts to dismantle drug networks across the city.
