In a bid to strengthen public safety and curb unlawful activity, the Bengaluru City Police have launched enhanced foot patrols, integrating e-beat officers with Hoysala and Cheetah vehicle teams. Police Sub-Inspector (PSI)-rank officers are now spearheading patrol efforts across key city zones.
Announced by the city’s police commissioner, this city-wide initiative is designed to increase public trust while discouraging criminal behavior. It has already been rolled out in key neighborhoods such as Cubbon Park, Ashok Nagar, Chickpet, Upparpet, and Indiranagar.
Under this plan, dedicated morning and evening foot patrols are being carried out by beat staff alongside personnel from Hoysala and Cheetah squads. The strategy places particular emphasis on high-footfall and sensitive areas—such as religious sites, shopping malls, and crowded markets—especially during weekends and peak evening hours.
The commissioner highlighted that the initiative’s dual purpose is to deter unlawful acts and ensure smooth public movement during high-traffic times. The effort is also expected to provide a sense of security to citizens, with uniformed officers maintaining a visible presence on the streets.
By blending traditional foot patrol methods with rapid-response vehicles, the department hopes to modernize its approach to urban policing while making law enforcement more accessible to the public.
